No. 9 Marcos Ambrose (126.604 mph), No. 22 Kurt Busch, No. 99 Carl Edwards, No. 22 Brad Keselowski, No. 56 Martin Truex, Jr., No. 20 Joey Logano, No. 33 Clint Bowyer, No. 48 Jimmie Johnson, No. 31 Jeff Burton and No. 13 Casey Mears were all faster than the 124.580 mph of Gordon’s record. Defending race winner No. 42 Juan Pablo Montoya had the 15th fastest time in practice.

Ryan Newman led the field in today’s final practice for the TOYOTA OWNERS 400 NASCAR Sprint Series race set for tomorrow night at Richmond International Raceway. Newman posted a speed of 124.235 mph. Hot on his heels at 123.468 was Tony Stewart. Rounding out the top 5 are Dale Earnhardt Jr., Joey Logano, and Kasey Kahne. Tickets are still available for the TOYOTA OWNERS 400, set for 7:00 p.m.

Out With the Old and In With the New: Scoring Pylon Being Removed to Make Room for New Video Scoring Tower

Richmond International Raceway’s infield is enduring a demolition. But, not to worry, this is a planned removal of the old scoring pylon to make way for the new video scoring tower at America’s Premier Short Track. Track president Doug Fritz today helped construction crews remove panels from the old scoring pylon, marking another milestone in the track’s offseason fan-friendly improvement mission.
