MIS takes the lead in responding to its fans

MIS President Roger Curtis took the opportunity to write an opinion piece for NASCAR.com on Feb. 12. Curtis wrote about what the Irish Hills track is doing for its fans and also discussed that the race fan is the number one priority for not only the speedway, but to the many NASCAR drivers who have worked with the track to support the sport over the years.

Chicagoland Speedway Facebook, Twitter Accounts Gain Momentum as More Fans Connect

The popularity and reach of social networking websites is undeniable. Millions of users log on to the Internet each day to chat and blog with friends, colleagues, family members, and now…speedways. Chicagoland Speedway is actively involved on Facebook and Twitter, connecting with new fans and followers everyday. Both Facebook and Twitter are free-access online social networks with millions of users world-wide. At Chicagoland Speedway, our goal is to enhance race fan interaction. To date, Facebook efforts have been successful, breeching the 1,000-fan milestone earlier this week. Our Facebook page features up-close action photos, videos, web links, and the latest news to keep fans up-to-date with what is happening at Chicagoland Speedway. In return, fans can share their photos and videos from their visit to Chicagoland Speedway. Our Facebook page also seconds as a web forum. Fans are able to communicate with fellow fans and share their experiences with Chicagoland Speedway directly. Another way Chicagoland Speedway is reaching out to its fan base via the web is through Twitter, which is a free-access micro-blogging web site. The term “blog” is actually a combination of the words ‘web’ and ‘log.’ By using Twitter, Chicagoland Speedway can keep fans in the loop on the absolute latest Speedway information. Fans that follow our Twitter account are immediately alerted when we post a new blog. These blogs often include brief updates from post race driver press conferences or even news about driver appearances. Chicagoland Speedway also shares instant photos with our followers. During the LifeLock.com 400, followers were able to see behind-the-scenes photos of the Gatorade Victory Lane, Mark Martin celebrating his win, and Bobby Labonte talking with race fans at the Checkered Flag Fan Zone. Twitter updates can even be sent to your cell phone, so fans can receive the latest information at home or in the grandstands. MIS, as part of its ongoing Fan Appreciation presented by LifeLock program, has launched a fan trophy — awarded by fans to the winner Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 race at the track. The tradition will begin following the presentation of the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 trophy and given to the winning driver by two fans randomly selected by the program.
