The drive collected over 3,000 non-perishable items and over $1,100 in monetary donations. The food and monies will benefit two local food pantries, The Lord Cares of Darlington and Harvest Hope of the Pee Dee.

In the spirit of giving back for the holiday season, Darlington Raceway is launching a can food drive that will take place from Nov. 8-22, 2013, with proceeds benefiting Harvest Hope of the Pee Dee and The Lord Cares of Darlington. The event kicks off on Friday, Nov. 8 at the track’s first annual Speed & Feed BBQ Cook-Off and Car Show presented by Piggly Wiggly. Between the hours of 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., fans that bring either five non-perishable food items or make a $10 cash donation will receive laps around the track Too Tough To Tame. On Saturday, Nov. 9, the same program will commence from 8 a.m. – Noon.
