Jeffrey Earnhardt (far right) became the first NASCAR driver to make his way through Talladega Superspeedway’s new Oversized Vehicle Tunnel Tuesday via John Ray’s iconic Big Rig that is a tradition at the 2.66-mile venue during the National Anthem as a part of all pre-race activities. The tunnel, located on the north end of the track near Turn 3 which will open for fans during the track’s upcoming tripleheader weekend April 26-28, is the first development of the track’s Transformation Infield Project presented by Graybar, which will culminate this fall. Pictured with Earnhardt are (from left to right) Johnny Ray (Son of John Ray who owns the Big Rig), Landon Ash (Founder of the 1st Foundation and founder of Xtreme Concepts, the parent company of iK9), Roger Haynes (who has driven Ray’s Big Rig for many years as part of the track’s pre-race festivities), and Grant Lynch, Chairman of Talladega Superspeedway.
