Jeff O'Connor Named Grand Marshal For USAC Race

Jeff O'Connor of North Vernon, Indiana, son of legendary racer Pat O'Connor, has been named grand marshal of the May 10 USAC "Silver Crown Showdown at Darlington." The event will feature the USAC Silver Crown Championship Cars on the storied 1.366-mile Darlington Raceway for first time in over a half century. Jeff's father won the July 4, 1956 "Pee Dee 200," USAC's only previous appearance at the historic South Carolina oval.

Mark Martin Set to Race at Darlington

Mark Martin fans may be feeling a bit bereft over the course of the next couple of weeks, but they won't be disappointed at Darlington during the Dodge Avenger 500 weekend in May. Martin announced earlier this season that his abbreviated 2007 NEXTEL Cup Series race schedule will include a stop at the track "Too Tough To Tame."

J.J. Yeley to Compete in Silver Crown Showdown at Darlington

J.J. Yeley of Phoenix, Ariz., who swept USAC's "Triple Crown" in 2003, winning all three USAC National driving championships, will pilot A.J. Foyt's Greer Special C & R/Chevy in Thursday's "USAC Showdown at Darlington" Silver Crown Championship race. The 50-lap contest marks USAC's return to the track "Too Tough To Tame" after a 51-year hiatus.

Phoenix Raceway is encouraging fans to prepare for race day traffic by arriving early and enjoying the full racing experience during the Desert Diamond West Valley Phoenix Grand Prix event weekend, April 28-29. In addition to the Verizon IndyCar Series race on Saturday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. (local), the race weekend will also include the Phoenix Copper Cup USAC Silver Crown Series and the USAC .25 (Quarter) Midget races, as well as the Vintage Desert Classic. The weekend will officially kick off at the track with the Beach Whiskey Outback Steakhouse Qualifying Day on Friday, April 28.
