
Doug Fritz, a native Virginian who grew up in Springfield, is a 1981 graduate of Virginia Tech, with a degree in Marketing Management. Before returning to Virginia in December 1999, Doug spent 10 years in Daytona Beach, working at NASCAR—the nation’s premier sanctioning body for auto racing and today’s fastest growing sport in the United States. Doug worked as Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development. In the Spring of 1999, Doug joined International Speedway Corporation—a leader in the motorsports entertainment industry and parent company of 12 speedways across the country, including Daytona International Speedway, home of the Daytona 500. He signed on as Director of Corporate Administration.
When International Speedway Corporation purchased Richmond International Raceway on December 1, 1999, Doug was named President of Richmond International Raceway and relocated to Richmond. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Richmond Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau, as well as the Henrico Police Athletic League. Doug also serves on the Henrico County Public Schools Communication Committee, as well as the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army.
April 2005, Doug won the prestigious Henrico County Business Leader of the Year Award.
